Context:
According to the report prepared by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), the National Monsoon Mission and High-Performance Computing programmes will provide a 50-fold benefit on the funds allocated for farmers.
Key Highlights
The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) launched the National Monsoon Mission in 2012.
Under the National Monsoon Mission, the active implementation of a Global Ensemble Forecast Method for short and medium-range forecasts at 12 kilometres was made possible.
For short, medium, and long-range predictions, it seeks to establish a state-of-the-art, dynamic monsoon prediction method.
