Bharat Gaurav Scheme
India’s first private train, flagged off from Coimbatore under the ‘Bharat Gaurav’ scheme.
The train began its journey from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu to Sainagar Shirdi in Maharashtra.
About Bharat Gaurav Scheme
Under this program, private players and tour operators can procure trains from railways on lease and operate them on any circuit of their choice and decide fares, routes, and quality of services.
The scheme was launched in November 2021, which allowed private entities to operate theme-based train services across different tourism circuits.
Key Features
The operator holds the freedom to decide the route, the halts, the services provided and the tariff.
The private operators have to offer services like the tour operators, arrangement, visit to historical or heritage sites, and tour guides apart from operating the trains.
These trains cannot be run as usual transport trains between an origin and destination.

Other theme-based Trains
The Shri Ramayana Yatra train will also be run under the Bharat Gaurav scheme from Delhi.
