Konark will now light up its Sun Temple with solar energy
Konark is going to be the first model town in Odisha to shift from grid dependency to green energy.
Odisha is also the first state in the country to include climate in its budget for 2020-21.
Temple represents a chariot of the Sun God, with twelve pairs of wheels drawn by seven horses evoking its movement across the heavens.
It belongs to the Kalinga School of Indian Temples and was built in the thirteenth century under the reign of Narasimha Deva.
It forms part of the golden triangle of Odisha, along with Puri and Bhubaneswar
The temple is a World Heritage Site and is situated in the eastern state of Odisha and is dedicated to the Sun God temple.
