India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) 


  • 37th edition of CORPAT was conducted in the Indian Ocean region from 23-24 November 2021. 

  • Indigenously built Indian Naval Ship (INS) Khanjar and Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft participated in the exercise.

Objectives 

  • Ensuring safety and security of shipping and international trade in the region.

  • CORPAT biannual exercise builds up understanding and interoperability between both the navies.

  • It facilitates institution of measures to prevent and suppress Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism, armed robbery and piracy.

  • CORPAT is held twice a year.

  •  It was conducted for the first time in 2002.

  • Samudra Shakti: A bilateral maritime exercise.

  • Garuda Shakti: A joint military exercise.
