World’s First Ship Tunnel

Norway is set to construct World’s first ship tunnel which will start in 2022 and will be completed by 2025-26. 

Key Highlights of Project 

• Norway has planned to construct a Ship tunnel underneath the mountains in the Stadhavet peninsula of Norway. 

• Tunnel will burrow through the narrowest point of the Stadhavet peninsula for which conventional blasting will be employed. It will also use underground drilling rigs and pallet rigs. 

• The tunnel will be 37 meters high, 1,700 meters long, and 26.5 meters wide.
