Poshan Abhiyan for the Elderly

• The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment plans to introduce the ‘Poshan Abhiyan' for the Elderly in order to provide them with ‘nutrition assistance.' 

• The mission will offer help to indigent elders who are not living in Old Age Homes and are suffering from malnutrition. 

• Scheme will be implemented by “Gram Panchayats and Urban Municipalities”. 

About Poshan Abhiyan

• The multi-ministerial initiative known as NNM was initiated in 2018 to resolve India's malnutrition crisis.

• It was created with the aim of improving the nutritional outcomes of infants, youth, pregnant and lactating mothers. The mission's main goal is to "eradicate hunger by 2022."
