RuPay SoftPoS 

  • National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and SBI Payments have recently partnered to launch “RuPay SoftPoS”.

  • This technology will be helpful in transforming the NFC enabled smartphones into merchant Point of Sale (PoS) terminals for retailers.

  • It will provide a seamless, cost-effective acceptance infrastructure to retailers at a nominal cost. It will also play a role in boosting digital payment acceptance among millions of underserved Indian MSMEs.

  • It will also help Merchants to use near-field communication (NFC)-enabled smartphones as the point of sale (PoS) terminals in order to receive payment up to Rs 5,000 using a simple tap and via pay mechanism.
