Sub-categorisation of OBCs

  • The National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) is in favour of four subcategories of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs). This move complies with the recommendation of the Justice Rohini Commission. 

  • Justice Rohini Commission was constituted in 2017 to review and report on the subcategorization of OBCs.

  • The report will be submitted by the Commission by July 2021. 

  • The terms of reference of the panel are to research the extent of the inequitable allocation of the benefits of the reserve among the caste or group.
