• India is to create a Regional Climate Centre in the mountainous area of the Himalayas. 

• The centre will offer weather-related services to India and to its neighbours as well.

Key features:

• The centre will assist in understanding the physical processes that are happening in the Himalayas.

Apart from the centre, the Himansh located at high altitude of the Himalayas is already undertaking weather research activities in the Himalayas.
