100-Octane Petrol
The Indian Oil Corporation recently launched the first 100 Octane petrol. This is the first time 100 Octane fuel is being launched in the country.
About Octane ratings:
Octane ratings are an indicator of the stability of gasoline. It's the ability of the gasoline to stop knocking. Knock happens as the gasoline is ignited incorrectly in the engine cylinder.
This decreases the performance of the engine and destroys the engine. The higher the Octane number, the higher the resistance of the fuel to knock.
Note:
The 100-octane fuel is commonly used in luxury cars requiring high performance. The 100-octane gasoline is commonly found in racing cars.
