Eligibility Criteria
The essential eligibility criteria such as educational qualifications, age limit etc. for the post of Scientist/Engineer are as follows:
Educational Qualification
- The candidates must have qualified B.E/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Mechanical , Electrical or equivalent degree in engineering from a recognised institute/university of India with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or 6.84 CGPA.
- Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply, provided the essential qualifications should have been completed before the release of ISRO final results.
- Candidates with a Lateral Entry degree are also eligible, provided they have passed their degree in first class with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or 6.84 CGPA.
The education eligibility criteria (Streams) for the post of Scientist/Engineer may change as per the recruitment notification. It will be notified as per the latest notification.
Age Limit
Minimum Age: 18 Years
Maximum Age: 28 Years
Note: Serving Central Govt. employees, Ex-Servicemen; and PWD, are eligible for upper age relaxation as per the rules of the Government of India.
Selection Process
The selection process includes a written test followed by an interview. The candidates who will qualify for the written exam will be shortlisted for the next round of recruitment process.
Exam Pattern

Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer, while 1/3 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The ISRO exam is conducted by the Indian Space Research Organisation to recruit talented engineers/scientists for various technical posts. It mainly focuses on streams such as Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, and other engineering branches, giving engineering graduates an opportunity to contribute to India’s space research and technology.
An ISRO Scientist/Engineer (SC) typically receives a starting salary in the pay level of Rs. 56,100 per month (as per the 7th CPC), along with allowances such as DA, HRA, transport allowance, and other benefits. The overall in-hand salary usually ranges between Rs. 70,000–80,000 per month, depending on posting place and allowances.
ISRO conducts the Scientist/Engineer recruitment exam for different engineering streams such as Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical, and Civil. Apart from this, recruitment is also carried out through GATE scores for certain positions. For higher research and technical roles, candidates may also enter via exams/interviews conducted for JRF, RA, or other specialized positions.
Candidates must have a B.E./B.Tech degree in the relevant engineering discipline with at least 65% marks or 6.84 CGPA.
For Scientist/Engineer (SC) posts, the maximum age limit is 28 years as per the latest recruitment notification. Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories as per Government of India rules.
