BARC: Exam Date, Syllabus, Pattern, Eligibility, FAQS

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre also referred to as BARC conducts an exam each year. The BARC authorities for admission to two major courses specifically OCES (Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post Graduates - 1-year course) and DGFS (DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Graduates - 2-year course) for M.Tech and M.Chem.Engg conduct BARC Exam. BARC Exam is one of the principal prospects for candidates aspiring for a career in the public sector field as well as associated to the research field. However, toqualify BARC EXAM apart from eligibility criteria, one has to qualify two processes, which include the selection procedure for the BARC Exam.

BARC Exam Selection Process comprises of two steps to short list the aspirants for the post of Scientist.

Step 1:  Based on Online Examination, which is conducted every year. It is conducted for nine Engineering disciplines and five Science disciplines in more than forty cities spread across India. Aspirants applying for BARC online examination can choose their examination center as well as the date and time of the session in which they desire to appear for the Online Examination, subject to accessibility. Slot for the exam to candidates for taking the Online Examination will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Step 2:It will be based on the GATE Score where candidates will be shortlisted for the interview session based on the appropriate GATE Score in their subsequent subjects. Applicants with a degree in ‘Nuclear Engineering’ will be monitored only based on Online Examination to be conducted as per the schedule.

Finally, the interview session will be held of the shortlisted candidates. The interview sessions are organized discipline-wise such as interviews in all disciplines except Geology, Geophysics will be held in Mumbai, and interviews for the disciplines related to Geology and Geophysics will be conducted in Hyderabad. During the process of interview, the outstation applicants will be provided two-way second-class sleeper train fare, from their registered uptown address, by unswerving route or actual fare whichever is less.Candidates who will qualify the interview will be chosen as a Scientific Officer.

The exam pattern of BARC Exam is as follows:
