The Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe have recently released the Global Hunger Index 2024.


Key Highlights
  • India ranked 105th among 127 countries, with a score of 27.3.
  • The Global Hunger Index score is 18.3 at the global level, considered moderate, down only slightly from the 2016 score of 18.8.

 

About the Index
  • GHI is a tool for comprehensively measuring and tracking global, regional, and national hunger. 
  • Concern Worldwide publishes the Global Hunger Index.
  • GHI scores are based on the four indicators:
    • Undernourishment
    • Child wasting
    • Child stunting Child mortality

 

GHI Severity of Hunger Scale: 
  • Extremely Alarming ≥ 50
  • Alarming: 35.0-49.9
  • Serious: 20.0-34.9
  • Moderate: 10-19.9
  • Low: Below 9.9
