100% FDI in DTH
• The Union Cabinet recently approved updated standards for direct-to-home (DTH) broadcasting facilities.
• The criteria call for 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in DTH. The licence duration has now been extended to 20 years. It's been ten years earlier.
What are the new Guidelines?
• The licencing fee was revised to 8 percent from 10 percent of the adjusted gross sales.
• Broadcasting companies would have to pay the licencing fee on a quarterly basis. Companies are also charged on an annual basis.
• The guidelines also encourage DTH service providers to spend more coverage leading to improved operations and increased growth.
